Well, what can I say? It's been for the most part a disappointing week.
Watching the Bearcats and Bengals getting beat down in pretty similar fashion wasn't exactly the way I wanted to start the new year. The excuse makers are busy pointing out that the Bengals were playing without Crocker, Peko, Sims for most of the game, Maulaluga, and Geathers. Okay, point taken. Maybe I'll cut them a LITTLE slack on defense, but the offense was still playing with 10 out of 11 starters, and they managed just 72 yards of offense. 72??? Are you kidding me? Somebody please explain to me how ANYBODY can feel any drop of confidence in this team going into Saturday's game with this kind of offense.
I'm tired of hearing the excuses about how this is a running team now, and they've changed their focus into being a team of defense and ball control. BULL.
This team is paying right now for bad decisions they have made in the past, pure and simple. Their offensive line was a strength of this team in 05, it is now a liability. In 05, they had a younger Chad Johnson, TJ, Kevin Walter, and Kelley Washington. They now have Chad Johnson and who?
The New York Jets manhandled the Bengals all night last night on both sides of the ball, and not by accident. The Jets one year took Ferguson and Mangold in the first round. Both of them are stellar offensive lineman now. They also signed perennial Pro Bowler Feneca from the Steelers. The Bengals start 3 UFA's.
Based on what i saw last night, I don't see any way the Bengals win the rematch on Saturday. Injuries and a lack of talent and imagination are throwing another season away.
